Green Twinning aims at:
supporting municipalities from Greece, Bulgaria, Poland, Romania and Slovenia towards joining the Covenant of Mayors initiative and fulfilling the obligations resulting from this commitment, i.e. develop Sustainable Energy Action Plans (SEAPs) and implement actions mentioned therein
strengthening the technical and financial capacity of EU municipalities in sustainable energy planning and implementation
promoting permanent long-term partnerships and networking between EU municipalities in order to achieve commonly agreed results in joint project implementation process.
The project is carried out by a consortium of 10 partners from Greece, Bulgaria, Poland, Romania, Slovenia and Spain. The project’s coordinator is the Regional Union of Municipalities of Attica (PEDA), while the rest of the partners are EXERGIA, SEC, ARM, PNEC, GIURGIU, ZRMK, AER, VRHNIKA, HCC - EMA.
Approximately 40 municipalities from Greece, Bulgaria, Poland, Romania and Slovenia with little experience in sustainable energy planning and implementation participate in our capacity building activities.
Another 10 Spanish municipalities from the provinces of Barcelona, Granada and Valencia have concluded twinning agreements with 10 of above-mentioned municipalities with whom they exchange know-how on sustainable energy planning and implementation.
Training activities and twinning agreements are implemented throughout the project duration which focus on strengthening the technical and financial capacity of the participating EU municipalities in sustainable energy planning and implementation.
